Last month I ran a routine check on outline.ad, my agency site. I know that site the way you know your own phone number. Search Console, server logs, referral sources. I was sure there was nothing left to learn from a dashboard.

Bing Webmaster Tools has a sidebar item called AI Performance. It is marked beta. I had scrolled past it for months the way you scroll past a door you assume is a closet.

Then I clicked it. The report showed roughly 1,500 Copilot citations a month on a site I thought I knew completely. Fifteen hundred times a month, an AI was quoting my pages inside its answers, and I had no idea it was happening.

When those engines quote a page, Microsoft is in the room when it happens. Google Search Console still reports a world where humans click ten blue links.

Google tells you who clicked you. Bing tells you who quoted you.

Once I saw the outline.ad number, I opened the same report for every domain I run. That is how the real numbers finally surfaced. FreeCV: 253,000 citations in six months, with 26,600 of them landing in a single seven day window. FreeTTS: roughly double FreeCV. Across all 21 domains: more than 1,000,000 machine citations in six months. I found a million citations sitting in a report almost nobody opens.
